BMX Headset sizes and differences
The BMX headset is an important component of the BMX bike, it connects the fork and the handlebar. There are several types of BMX headset, which differ in size, shape and material.
The size of the headset is an important factor when choosing a BMX headset. Most BMX headsets have a diameter of 1 1/8 inches, but there are also variants with a diameter of 1 inch. Make sure that the headset fits the fork of the bike.
The shape of the BMX headset can vary and will affect the handling of the bike. A headset with a flat top bearing cup is lighter and allows for a lower handlebar position, while a headset with a domed bearing cup positions the handlebar higher and provides more control.
The spacers are also an important part of the BMX headset. Spacers are flat washers that sit between the headset's bearing cups and the top of the fork. They allow the rider to adjust the height of the handlebar and find a comfortable position.
The material of the headset can also vary. Most BMX headsets are made of aluminum or chromoly steel. Aluminum headsets are lighter, while chromoly steel headsets are sturdier and more durable.
When buying a new BMX headset, be sure to check for compatibility with your bike as well. Make sure the headset fits the bike's fork and that the bearing cups match the diameter of the headset tube. The headset and spacers are important factors that affect the ride and comfort of the BMX bike.
